Can't help you with the image problem but as for the sorting books read/not read, put the value READ in the MODEL description for books and then display books that match that search criteria.

Open the relevant file (amm_extras.php probably) in something like notepad, and make sure there's no extra whitespace either before the opening <?php tag or after the closing ?> tag.
